Sorry in advance for my lack of knowledge. I am new to server configuration.

Basically what I am trying to do is send an email collected from a php contact form on a site. Apparently I can do this using sendmail or better yet postfix instead. However I have not been able to make it work. Also, I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I am running apache2 with multiple vhosts. However, I am not hosting the dns on my server. I am only forwarding the domain to my web server. so the mx records and everything else is done through godaddy or whatever service. I'm not sure if all that makes a difference or not...

Anyways, I currently have postfix installed and am getting these errors...

Jan 2 21:49:50 thehostghost postfix[26941]: error: to submit mail, use the Postfix sendmail command
Jan 2 21:49:50 thehostghost postfix[26941]: fatal: the postfix command is reserved for the superuser

This is my postfix configuration:

# See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version

# Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first
# line of that file to be used as the name. The Debian default
# is /etc/mailname.
#myorigin = /etc/mailname

smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu)
biff = no

# appending .domain is the MUA's job.
append_dot_mydomain = no

# Uncomment the next line to generate "delayed mail" warnings
#delay_warning_time = 4h

readme_directory = no

# TLS parameters
smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtpd_scache
smtp_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtp_scache

# See /usr/share/doc/postfix/TLS_README.gz in the postfix-doc package for
# information on enabling SSL in the smtp client.

myhostname = thehostghost.thehostghost.com
alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases
alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases
myorigin = /etc/mailname
mydestination = localhost
relayhost =

I have read other forums with this issue but have not been able to gather any concrete fix to this. Or at least one that I am able to understand. I would greatly appreciate any help with this.
